The aim of the KOSHISH Garden project is to create a sustainable source of fruit, nuts and vegetables to feed the patients at the KOSHISH emergency care service centre in Pharping. KOSHISH is a National Mental Health and Self Help organisation based in Nepal. Their aim is to reduce the stigma in Nepalese society around people suffering from mental health conditions as well as ensuring those who need support can get it.
KOSHISH Garden Project

Project History
The leading club on the KOSHISH garden project is Rosebud Rye Rotary who completed the first phase in ...... Rosebud Rye Rotary contributed $3000 to the first phase with the support of Mt Martha Rotary who contribute $1000 and Dromana Rotary which contributed $1000. The goal of the first phase was to prepare the garden beds around the facility for planting. Rosebud Rye Rotary have also raised $7500 for the second phase as well as providing a grant for $3000 to purchase cooking equipment for the kitchen.
How Peninsula Rotaract Supported KOSHISH
Peninsula Rotaract and Kathmandu Mid Town Rotaract supported the second phase of the KOSHISH garden project. The focus of this phase was to plant 100 grafted fruit and nut trees around the facility to provide a sustainable source of fruit and nuts for the kitchen. The reason that the trees were grafted with local rainforest species was to ensure that they were more likely to be able to utilise the climate and soil in Pharping. When the fruit and nut trees are mature they will also be able to provide additional income for the facility through sales at the local market. We also helped plant spinach and other leafy vegetables which are staple in the Nepalese diet as well as helped add a roof on the greenhouse.
