Our Twinship - Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town
Twinship with Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town

22 November 2024
Having flown in just two days prior, this is our first day at Mangal School in Kirtipur, Nepal, where a welcome ceremony was put on and we got the chance to meet rotaractors from club of Kathmandu Mid-Town for the first time! Instantly, faces lit up as we began to get to know each other and took the first few steps towards lasting friendships.
23 November – 17 December 2024
Day in, day out, as we worked on the mural of Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus at Mangal School, we found the mid-towners ready to lend a hand with bright smiles and impressive painting talent! They were instrumental in the speed of finishing the mural and the quality of the final product, as well as boosting morale during long painting days!
30 November 2024
We worked alongside these dedicated rotaractors yet again as we joined forces to help till the land for the creation of a sustainable community garden at the KOSHISH Female Transit Home in Dakshinkali; a mental health institution for women prior to their rehabilitation into the community.
7 DECEMBER 2024!
One of the most important and joyful days of our 2024 Nepal Service Trip – this is the day we signed a Twinship with the Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town. This is essentially a formal friendship between two clubs and a commitment to work together and help each other out for as long as the clubs wish to keep the twinship active. However, our clubs have no intention of breaking this bond anytime soon!
9 December 2024
At the health camp organised by Shanti Sewa Griha, which our club funded and eagerly volunteered at all day, again RAC Kathmandu Mid-Town’s presence was unwavering with RY 2024-25 President Shreeya Dangol as lead eye-test conductor!
12 – 19 December 2024
Not all our members flew out of Nepal on the same date, so this was a week of staggered goodbyes. This made them no less hard as tears were blinked away – a testament to the strength of the bonds we had forged in only a month, as more than just our official Twinship but deeper personal friendships. We are infinitely grateful for the opportunities Rotaract has provided us in creating these connections beyond borders, beyond barriers.
13 January 2025
Working with RAC Kathmandu Mid-Town, as well as RACs of Patan and Kathmandu, we funded and organised for 21 school supply packs to be made up and distributed to students at a school in Rassuwa, Nepal. The students’ families did not have the means to buy these themselves and so would have otherwise not been able to participate in primary/secondary education.
8 February 2025
Our club decorated the duck we entered in Rotary Peninsula 2.0’s yearly Duck Derby in honour of our twin club, along with all the other amazing clubs we connected with while in Nepal. Our duck was named Mankonata – meaning heart-to-heart connection, representing what we share with our Nepali friends!
Present Day
We are again actively working with RAC Kathmandu Mid-Town, as well as RACs of Patan and Kathmandu on Project REACH. This project is envisioned as an ongoing one with many different sub-projects under the umbrella of educational support. Currently, we are working together to build a new toilet block at a Nepali school which has been completely destroyed by the 2024 floods. Importantly, it will also be accessible to the local community, who lacks such infrastructure at the moment.
We are also continuing to foster the bonds and friendships made in Nepal through the wonders of modern technology and look ahead already with excitement to the day we will reunite!
